    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the types of Grice's maxims performed by Ferdy Sambo during the trial process at the South Jakarta District Court. In this data analysis, qualitative method is used. The suspects in question are Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, Barada Richard Eliezer, Kwat Ma'aruf and other suspects involved in this murder case. The data is classified based on Grice's maxim types introduced by Paul Grice (1975: 45-47). Based on the results of the data analysis, the results show that all types of Grice's maxims are used in Ferdy Sambo's conversation, namely Maxim Quantity 0 times (0%), Maxim Quality 1 times (100%), Maxim Manner 0 times (0%), and Maxim Relation 0 times (0%). So, the most dominant maxim violation is the maxim of quality because it is most often used in Ferdy Sambo’s Trial in Brigadier Joshua’s Murder. In this research, there was only 1 maxim that was violated, namely the violation of the quality maxim. because in this study the speaker and listener obeyed the maxim more than they violated the maxim. During the trial the judge gave a statement and Sambo gave the answer. In his answer, Sambo mostly adheres to maxims, so instead of that, the researcher only got 1 maxim that was violated.
