dc.description.abstractCommunication requires both parties will normally seek to corporate with each other to establish agreed meaning and it requires the mutual understanding between speaker and listener. This study purposed to identify the types of Grice Maxim found in The main character of The Beauty and The Beast, Belle. In this study, the researcher analyzed types of Grice Maxim and the most dominant type of Grice Maxim found in The Film of Beauty and The Beast, based on the theory of Paul Grice in Pragmatic Lavinson (1983), namely: Quantity Maxim, Quality Maxim, Relevance Maxim, Manner Maxim. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of data was the movie transcript of The Beauty and The Beast. the instrument of collecting data were movie transcript, documentary technique and the researcher as the instrument to analyze the data and technique collecting data by the followed steps: watch the movie from the Beauty and The Beast, listen to the audio for transcribing data and take a note to the utterances which contain the types of Grice Maxim in the movie The Beauty and The Beast. The researcher found 81data that involved in movie of The Beauty and The Beast the data were Quantity (35%), Quality (35%), Relevance (24%), Manner (6%). From the result, the researcher concluded that Quantity Maxim and Quality Maxim are the most dominant types of Grice Maxims found in the Beauty and The Beast Movieen_US
