Pembangunan Ekonomi Daerah Sumatera Utara Dilihat Dari Angka Migrasi Semasa Hidup

Abstract

It is argued that migrants are more likely to move to the area which have higher economic development, this paper attemps to analyze the relationship between lifetime migration of North Sumatra and the level of economic growth of the province in Indonesia, especially in 1980 and 1985. The findings show that the hyphotesis is supported. It was found that the number of lifetime in-migrants in North Sumatra decreased when the level of economic growth in this area was lower than in several other provinces. At the same time, the migrants moved to the provinces which had higher economic development.
