An Analysis Politeness Strategy of Prabowo Subianto Speech on the CSIS Indonesia Event

Abstract

Politeness strategy is the deliberate use of language and behavior to communicate respectfully and considerately, especially in situations where there's potential for disagreement or conflict. The purpose of this study is to examine the use of politeness strategies used by Prabowo Subianto on the CSIS Indonesia event. In this research , the research design used descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study identified four types of politeness strategies: the Bald on Record (43.06%), Positive Politeness (40.28%), Negative Politeness (8.33%) , and Off Record (8.33%). Based on the analysis, Bald on Record (43.06%) is the most dominant type of politeness strategy.
