    This study deals with students’ ability in predicting information. Prediction strategy involves thinking about what might be coming next in the text. It is applied by effective reader that mean, they used text as well as personal experience to make predictions before they begin to read”. The objective of the study is (1) to find out whether the eleventh grade students at SMK Negeri 5 Medan are able to predict information on narrative text reading. It was conducted by using descriptive quantitative research. The source of data was taken from students’ grade XI of SMK Negeri 5 Medan. There are 4 classes of grade XI which cosists of 120 students, and XI TITL 2 was taken as the sample of this research. The result of this analysis is (1) students ability in predicting information through text is categorize good, From 30 samples students, there were 17 students (56.7%) got good score or can predict four details of information from the text, 10 students (33.3%) got very good score or can predict five details of information from the text, 2 students (6.7%) got low score or can predict three details of information from the text, and only 1 student (3.3%) got very low score or predict one details of information from the text. The total score was 2380 with mean score 79.33. It means that students at SMK Negeri 5 Medan Able in predicting information.The students in English Department help their problem and their weakness in reading especially in comprehending a new text. English teacher use text as their media in teaching reading to help students develop their knowledge about about the topic of the text.
