dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to find out whether Presentation Practice and Production Approach can improve students’ speaking ability. This study was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research was second years students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa. There are two kinds of data collected during the study, quantitative and qualitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data is speaking test while questionnaire sheets and observation sheets for qualitative data. Based on qualitative data , the students are active and enthusiastic to follow the teaching learning process. Based on quantitative data it is found that the students’ speaking ability by using presentation practice and production approach improved from pre test to cycle I and cycle II. It can be seen from the students’ mean of the students’ score and percentage of students who got score ≥ 75. The mean of students’ score and percentage of students who got ≥ 75 for pre test is 69.76 ( 11.62% ) and for cycle I is 73.13 ( 18.60% ) and for cycle II is 82.44 ( 79.06%). The conclusion is there is an improvement to increase their knowledge in speaking by using presentation practice and production approach in class XI IPA SMA NEGERI I TANJUNG MORAWA, especially for English teacher presentation practice and production approach can help teacher to ,make students to be more interested, active, and enthusiastic when teaching English speaking.en_US
