dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to describe students' perception of using English Podcast audio in listening skills and factors that influence their perception of using this media in listening skills. The type of research method used in this study is the descriptive qualitative research method. Data from this study was collected and obtained through questionnaires and interviews. The subjects of this study were 4th semester in majoring English education at Nommensen HKBP University, with research samples, namely groups A and B, totaling 20 respondents who were selected by random sampling. Questionnaires were distributed to 20 students to find out how they perceive the use of English Podcast audio and interviews were distributed to the same 20 students to find out what factors influence students' perceptions of using English Podcast audio. The result of this research showed that there were 14 positive perceptions of 15 questions, which is 93,3%, and 1 negative perception of 15 questions, which is 6,7%. It is shown that the 4th semester students of English education at Nommensen HKBP University have a good view of the use of podcasts. Students feel that this podcast is suitable as a medium for students' listening learning. Even though, the long duration of English Podcast audiocreates negative perceptions for students. The student's perception is influenced by several factors. Personal characteristics or perceivers are more dominant in influencing student perceptions. Then the next factors that influence student perceptions are situational factors such as time, social circumstances, and target factors such as sound and background. The result of this research shown that students like this English Podcast audio because of their own interest. Another students think that the student likes English Podcast audio because, as an English Education student, he thinks that this is a must because of his educational background.en_US
