    An Analysis of Students’ Grammatical Errors in Writing Descriptive and Procedure Text at VIII Grade of SMP Negeri 5 Percut Sei Tuan

    Abstract
    This research analyzed the results of the students' writing, in which they are invited to write descriptive and procedure texts because descriptive and procedure texts are texts that state phenomena that have occurred. The researchers aimed to describe the types of errors made by the student in writing descriptive and procedure texts. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from students writing test on descriptive and procedure text and conducted. The writing test is used to measure each student's level of learning in writing and to find out the kinds of students' errors. The participants were 15 students in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 5 Percut Sei Tuan. Data analysis namely discovered which form of error was more prevalent than the data that had been gathered, based on the students' experiences, As a result of the writing test made by the students, in descriptive text, the writer found 129 errors in the data shows that there are 71 errors of omission category with the percentage 55,03% which all of the students made this error, 22 errors of addition category with the percentage 17,05% which made by 9 students, 23 errors of misformation category with the percentage 17,82% which made by 11 students and 13 errors of the misordering category with the percentage 10,07% made 7 students. In the writing procedure text, the writer found 92 which consist of 29 errors of omission category made by 12 students with the percentage of 31,52%, 47 errors of addition category made by 15 students with the percentage of 51,08%, 2 errors of misformation category made by 2 students with the percentage 2,17%, and 14 errors of misordering category made by 9 students with the percentage 13,04%. Based on previous data, omission is the most common type of error made by students, which is 71 errors in writing descriptive text with a percentage of 55,03%. Meanwhile, in writing procedure text, students mostly made addition errors type which there are 47 errors with a percentage of 51,08%.
