    Abstract
    This thesis entitled “An Analysis of Deixis in Overcoming Stress Speech by Nick Vujicic”. The aim of this study is to analyze types of deixis found in Nick Vujicic’s Speech. This study used pragmatics approach, which using Buhler Theory (2011) about deixis. in completing the analysis, the writer uses descriptive qualitative as the research method of the analysis. The data of the writer are utterances that contain deixis in Nick Vujicic’s Speech text as the source of data and then classified into the types of deixis. the result of this study showed that there are 652 data from Nick Vujicic’s speech utterances which contain deixis. There are three types of deixis in this study, 565 (86,6%) of data indicated person deixis, 21 (3,2%) of data indicated spatial deixis, and 66 (10,1%) of data indicated temporal deixis. In this study, person deixis is found as the dominant type in Nick Vujicic’s speech utterances. It is because in the speech Nick shared his situation when he was under stress and told every listeners how to overcoming stress. The writer hopes this study will be useful to sharpen the other researchers in understanding deixis in pragmatics especially about the types of deixis and expected to provide new reference when conducting research in different perspective.
