dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study is to explore the homorgan sounds of Bahasa Batak Toba as proto language into bahasa Batak Karo and bahasa Batak Simalungun as daughter languages. The data were collected by asking the native speaker of bahasa Batak Toba as proto language and bahasa Batak Karo together with bahasa Batak Simalungun as daughter languages to pronounce 200 words each their native language prepared in a swadesh list. It was found that some lexicon from proto language are identical, has genetic relationship with some lexicon in daughter language, and as vice versa some of them are not identical nor have genetic relationship. Lexicon in bahasa Batak Simalungun as daughter language is more identical with bahasa Batak Toba as proto language comparing with lexicon from bahasa Batak Karo to bahasa Batak Toba. Time separation between bahasa Batak Toba as proto language into bahasa Batak Karo as daughter language was predicted occured 733 years ago or around the year of 1278, while time for separation between bahasa Batak Toba as proto language with Bahasa Batak Simalungun as daughter language was predicted occurred on 712 years a go or around the year of 1399.en_US
