dc.description.abstractThis research discusses figurative language in Rick Riordan's novel entitled The Tower of Nero. The objectives of this study is to find out the types of Figurative Language in The Tower of Hero novel by Rick Riordan. This study was conducted by applying qualitative descriptive research. The data of the study is taken from the sentences in the novel which contain types of figurative language. The source of the data in this study taken from the novel entitled The Tower of Nero written by Rick Riordan was published Disney Publishing Worldwide in 2020 this is The fifth and final book in the Trial of Apollo series. The writer analyzes 6 types of figurative language in each page of the novel, namely: Metaphor, Verbal irony, Hyperbole, Idioms, Contextual Expression, Indirect request. The writer found 44 underlined sentences in the novel containing figurative language as research data, namely: Metaphor found 8, Verbal irony found 9, Hyperbole found 18, Idioms found 1, Contextual Expression found 4, Indirect request found 4. Besides that the writer also analyzed the most dominant of figurative language in the novel, they are Metaphor is 18%, Verbal Irony is 20%, Hyperbole is 40%, Idioms is 2%, Contextual Expression is 10%, Indirect Request is 10%. So, the most dominant from the 6 types of figurative language that the writer analyzed in the tower of the nero novel is Hyperbole with 40% often used in the novel.en_US
