dc.description.abstractPronunciation is one of the important competence which has to be mastered by means of language rookies mainly through the X Grade college students at SMA Gajah Mada Medan. In the fact, they have a conversation category to improve it. Interestingly, the students as language beginners dedicated some blunders in pronouncing words. Thus, what they had to study wanted to be checking whether the students had accomplished the mastering goal or not. Here, discovering any possible errors made by way of the students in their pronunciation may want to be very helpful for any functions for the teacher. As these mistakes ought to be enormous for students’ progress, teachers must act in the direction of the errors. Thus, it used to be critical to uncovered what types of pronunciation blunders students made earlier than in addition action is then made. This research found that there were 450 errors made by X Grade students at SMA Gajah Mada Medan in pronouncing words. There were seven dominant vowel error frequency 14,34% participant perform errors in vowel /I/, 9,54% cases in vowel /i/, 8,12% vowel /a/, 5,64% /e/, 6,27% /ɜ:/, 4,78% /ә/, and 3,56% /ʌ/. The result also showed that participant perform three types of pronunciation errors; The omission occurrence is 50% as of the total errors or 161% errors. The error number of addition 30% or 158 errors. This misformation is 12% or 77 errors. followed by the less number is 8% is 54 errors misordering. The errors were then classified into certain phoneme features. This study also found out that the sources of the errors were various. The first sources was Interference errors, Intralingual errors and Developmental errors.en_US
