    An Analysis of Deixis in Debate Medan Mayor Candidates 2020: Bobby-Aulia Vs. Akhyar-Salman

    Abstract
    This study aimed to to find out the types of the deixis and also the referents of deixis that uttered by Bobby Afif Nasution-Aulia Rachman Versus Akhyar Nasution-Salman Alfarisi in The first Medan Mayor Election debate in 2020. This research used pragmatic approach, especially using theory of Levinson (1983) about deixis. In completing the analysis, the writer will be use descriptive qualitative as the method of the analysis. The data in this study are utterances that contain Deixis in Debate Medan Mayor Election in 2020 between Bobby-Aulia and Akhyar-Salman. The result of this study show that there are 298 data from both of two candidates pair’s utterances which contain deixis. There are four types of deixis in this study, 68.8% of data indicate person deixis, 7.4% of data indicate spatial deixis, discourse deixis and 23.8% of data indicate Temporal deixis. In this study, Person deixis is found as the dominant type that occur in this debate. It is because each candidate pair’s using argumentation method to influence the citizens or voters by mentioning their work plans and also invites the citizens to work together in improving Medan.
