| dc.description.abstract | This study is attempted to focus on the analysis the strategies of translating transitive phrasal verb of an English novel Ps. I Love You Into Indonesian. The objectives of the study are: (1) What are the strategies of translation used in translating transitive phrasal verbs in a novel entitled PS I Love You into Indonesian (2) What is the most common strategy for translating transitive phrasal verbs into Indonesian in a novel entitled PS I Love You. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research design. The data of this study were sentences in the novel and the source data are two novel entitled PS I Love You written by Cecelia Ahern which is published by Harper Collins Publisher in 2004 and its translation in Indonesian which is translated by Monica Dwi Chresnayani published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2013 as target text. The strategies are identified according to Mona Baker’s strategies (2011). The strategies are translation by more general word, translation by more neutral/ less expressive word, translation by cultural substitution, translation using a loan word or loan word plus explanation, translation by paraphrase using a related words, translation by paraphrase using unrelated words, and translation by omission. There were 56 sentences that had been analyze. The result of this study there are 5 strategies, namely; translation by more neutral/ less expressive word with 27 (48.20%) findings which automatically dominates in the novel, translation by more general word with 22 (39.30 %), translation by paraphrase using unrelated words with 3 (5.35 %), translation by omission with 3 (5.35%) and the last strategy is translation by paraphrase using a related words with 1 (1.80 %). There are no translation strategies by cultural substitution and translation using a loan word or loan word plus explanation. | en_US |
