    Abstract
    This thesis is about The Effect of Scattergories Game into Students Vocabulary Mastery at the Second Grade Students of Junior High School. The objective of the study is to find out whether or not Scattergories game affect on students achievement in vocabulary. This study was conducted by applying experimental quantitative research. The subject of the study was the second grade students of junior high school. The writer took VIII- 1 which consist of 10 students as experimental group with used Scattergories game and VIII-2 which consist 10 Students as a control group without Scattergories game. The population of this research was the second grade students in SMPN 1 Saribudolok. The writer took both classes as a total sampling to see The Effect of Scattergories Game into Students Vocabulary Mastery. The data were taken by giving vocabulary test wich consists of multiple choice, gap-fill, matching, and C-test. The test was divided into two tests: pre- test and post-test for both experimental and control group. The mean score of pre-test in experimental class is 62,8 and the post test is 85.6. The mean score of pre-test in control group 60 and the post-test is 72. It is concluded that the mean score of experimental group is higher than control group. The result that t-calculated >t-table at the level of significance p=0,05 (4,69>2.101). The alternative (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It is suggested that teachers of English subject apply Scattergories Game as an alternative teaching technique into students vocabulary mastery at the second grade student of Junior High School.
