AN ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH LOAN WORDS IN HITAM PUTIH TALK SHOW

Abstract

Loan Word is taking or adopting of word from other language especially in English words. This study purposed to identify the types of loan found in Hitam Putih talk show. In this study, the writer analyzed types of English loan and the most dominant type of English loan found in Hitam Putih talk show is loan blend, based on the theory of Hoffer (2005), namely: loan word, loan shift, loan blend and loan translation. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of data was the script of Hitam Putih talk show on 09th January 2018. The writer found 92 data that involved in Loan word (6,52%), Loan blend (50%), Loan shift (43,48%), and there is no Loan translation . From the result, the writer concluded that Loan blend is the most dominant type of English loan found in Hitam Putih talk show.
