dc.description.abstractCompensation is a technique of making up for the loss of important ST features through replicating ST effects approximately in the TT by means other than those used in the ST (Hervey and Higgins 1992:35). There are, Compensation in kind, Compensation in Place, Compensation by Merging, and Compensation by Splitting. This study used descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of the data is Subtitle of Merantau Movie. The researcher found 45 data that dominant iscompensation in kind (55,55%) , compensation in place was not found in the subtitle of merantau movie, compensation by merging (17,78%), compensation in splitting (26,26%), from the result, the researcher conclude that Compensation in Kind is the most dominant type of borrowing technique among the Subtitle of Merantau Movie.en_US
