    THE EFFECT OF USING (STAR) SELECT, TEACH, ACTIVE AND REVISIT MODEL ON STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT NINE GRADE IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AT TEMBUNG

    Abstract
    The objectives of this research are to find out students'writing ability in the descriptive text in the third grade in Junior High School andto identify whether Select, Teach, Apply and Revisit (STAR) influence on students' writing ability in descriptive text. This research was conducted using quantitative research. In this research, the population is the third grade of junior high school. The population was 20 students.The pre-experimental methodwas applied in this research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The instrument used to collect data was a writing test and the components of writing that measured were organization, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, and content. The result of the research showed that the third-grade students of junior high school had a "poor" score on the pre-test with a mean score of 40.5. The use of STAR Model affect to students writing ability, they got a "good" score with the mean score 73,1. To find out the difference between students' pre-test and post-test, the researcher applied a t-test value was 4,70 which was higher than the t-table value 1.697 at the level significance was 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df) N-1 in which N= 20. Based on the result of this research, the researcher suggests that STAR Model may be used as an alternative technique in teaching writing descriptive text because it can help students to participate in the composition and construction of the text by sharing the pen with the teacher and build on individual students abilities in writing so that the students can understand and more interested in a learning activity, especially in writing.
