dc.description.abstractThis research was focused on the implementation of the SQ4R Method and to teach reading on Descriptive text grade Eight student of SMP Negeri 2 Berastagi. The objectives of the research were to find out the profile of the students reading comprehension on descriptive text before and after taught by SQ4R Method to find out significance difference of the students reading comprehension on descriptive text before and after taught by SQ4R Method. This research was and quantitative approach. The subject of the research were two Cycle. It consisted of 25 students. The data was collected through test; pre-test and post-test. The data was tested by using Paired sample T-Test version application by comparing the mean score of pre-test and post-test from both groups. The significance level was set 5%. The result of the research showed that, first, the students profile were different before and after taught by SQ4R Method. The mean of pre-test was 43.4 while the mean post-test Cycle I 71 and Cycle II 83.2. The difference between pre-test and post-test mean was 83.2. Therefore, there was a difference between using SQ4R Method to teach reading on descriptive text grade eight students of SMP N 2 Berastagi. It means that SQ4R Method improve the students reading comprehension on descriptive text.en_US
