    Abstract
    The research entitled “Analysis of directive speech act in The Maze Runner movie “This research to find out the types of directive speech act used in The Maze Runner (2014) movie. The method of the study was qualitative method. The researcher herself becomes the only instrument. The steps of data collection are reading and selecting the movie script. Then, identifying, classifying and describing the data becomes the technique of data analysis. The data was taken from the movie script and some scene from the movie. Drawing the conclusion becomes the last step required. The result of this research is Thomas uses 199 utterances of directive speech acts in The Maze Runner (2014) Movie, they are advice, command, order, question. The writer found the amount of data 32 Based on the movie, Thomas uses directive speech acts in many cases. It is showed that the writer found , there are which is Advice ( 21 %) , Commanding (15 %) , Ordering ( 18 % ) , Requesting (21 % ) and Question (21 %.)
