dc.description.abstractSpeaking is one of language skills that should be mastered by the students. The students’ speaking ability in SMKS YWKA Medan is still low. It can be seen from the students’ speaking score in pre-test research. The researcher applied Chain Drill technique. The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant effect of using Chain Drill technique towards students’ speaking ability at the first semester of the Tenth grade of SMKS YWKA Medan in the academic year of 2020/2021. The research methodology was experimental quantitative research. In this research, the population was the Tenth grade of SMKS YWKA Medan. The sample of this research was one class consisting of 30 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used instrument in the form oral test. Before giving the treatment, the researcher gave pre-test for students in class. Then, after conducting the treatments, the instrument was given in post-test. Therefore, there is a significant effect of using Chain Drill Technique towards students’ speaking ability at the first semester at Tenth grade in SMKS YWKA Medan of academic year 2020/2021.en_US
