    Abstract
    This thesis entitled An Analysis of Taboo Words in Youtube Channel by Indonesian Gamers. The objective of the reasearch are intended to identify the types and the functions of taboo words used in youtube channel. The research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative in the analysis of the taboo words. The source of the data were Indonesian gamers’ youtube channel. The data of this research were 157 utterances containing taboo words. The findings of this research indicated that the gamers used four types of taboo words and three functions of taboo words. The first findings of this research were the number of epithet is found 85, the number of profanity is found 7, the number of vulgarity is found 36, and the number of obscenity is found 29. The type of taboo words dominant used by Indonesian gamers is epithet. The second findings of this research were the number of to draw attention to oneself is found 129, the number of to be provocative is found 21, and the number of to show contempt is found 7. The function of taboo words dominant used by Indonesian gamers is to draw attention to oneself.
