dc.description.abstractThis research question is how the thinking process of students cognitive style field independent (FI) to understand the concept of the group and how the student thought processes of cognitive style field dependent (FD) to understand the concept of the group. This research is qualitative-explorative, exposing the students to understand the thinking process of the group concept. The subjects of this study were two men, one student FI cognitive style and cognitive style of FD students. The subject is a student at the University Mathematics Education Study Program HKBP Nommensen who have been through the course Algebra Structure. The result showed that the thinking process of students who have FI cognitive styles have differences with the thought process of students who have the cognitive style of FD to understand the concept of the group.en_US
