dc.description.abstractBackground: The previous studies show that obesity associated with high LDL and low HDL. Hipercortisolism has been assumed to be involved in obesity-associated lipid profile disorders. Cortisol is synthesized by 11 β-Hydroxylase enzyme. The aim of this study was to investigate the 11 β-Hydroxylase, LDL, and HDL level in obese and overweight young adult men. Method: This cross-sectional study followed by 52 young adult men (18-24 years old), which 26 subjects with obese and 26 with overweight. The 11 β-Hydroxylase, LDL, and HDL level was evaluated in blood sample after 10 hours fasting. Result: The 11 β-Hydroxylase level was approximately 52.15 in obese subjects and 71.63 in overweight subjects. LDL cholesterol level was approximately 126.04 mg/dl in obese subjects and 105.88 mg/dl in overweight subjects. HDL cholesterol level was approximately 38.46 mg/dl in obese subjects and 43.15 mg/dl in overweight subjects. Conclusions: The 11 β-Hydroxylase and LDL cholesterol level was high in obese and overweight subjects. On the contrary, The HDL cholesterol level was low in obese and overweight subjects.en_US
