Korelasi Kadar Enzim 11 Beta-Hydroxylase Serum dengan Lingkar Pinggang pada Laki-laki Usia Muda

Abstract

Background:Some previous studies show that obesity and cardiovascular diseases was associated with hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis hyperactivity that lead to hypercortisolism. Cortisol was associated with central obesity. This hormone was synthesized by 11β-Hydroxylaseenzyme. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between 11 β-Hydroxylase serum and waist circumference in young adult men. Method:This cross-sectional study followed by 60 young adult men (18-30 years old). The concentration of 11 β-Hydroxylase serum was evaluated in blood samples that were taken at 8.00 to 9.00 AM. The data was analyzed bivariately. Coeffisien of correlation was obtained by Spearman’s rho test. Result: Mean 11 β-Hydroxylase serum was 55.64 ± 33.09 pg/ml and mean waist ciscumference was 86.30 ± 12.09 cm. The concentration of 11 β-Hydroxylase serumand waist circumference had apositive correlation (r = 0.402, p value = 0.01). Conclusions:The concentration of 11 β-Hydroxylase serum is correlate with waist circumference.But, how the raising of cortisol production rate (which involve 11 β-Hydroxylase) raise visceral adiposity and is the raising of 11 β-Hydroxylaseassociate with lipid profile disorder merit further investigation.
