Erosi Tanah sebagai Fenomena Pendahulu Bencana Banjir: Suatu Kajian Fisik

Abstract

Flood is one of climatic hazards and is considered as a human-made disaster. Soil erosion is one phenomenon that proceed the flood. Soil erosion is a loss of soil or soil part from one place that transported by water or wind to other place. Tropical area is the most eroded area because of the high rainfall along the year and the destroyed natural vegetation. To avoid soil erosion, it is important to use the land according to its capacity. Land with high slope, severely eroded, and has a very shallow root area is suggested to be left in its natural condition so it can be functioned as rainfall catchment area. The flood possibility is increased by deforestation access and by lack of land use plan, bad infrastructures, and restricted information access that leads to lack of awareness of flood hazard and the need of conserving the environment.
