This thesis is about The Effect of Using Know-Want-Learned Strategy on student’s Achievement in Reading Comprehension of the Eleventh Grade of SMK Negeri 5 Medan. The objective of the study was to investigate the influence of K-W-L (Know-Want-Learned) Strategy on students; achievement in reading comprehension. This study was conducted by applying experimental quantitative research. This subject of the study was grade eleventh students of SMK N 5 Medan. The population of this research was 90 studetns which consist of four classes. The writer took X1-TTL 2 as experimental which was applied by NISP strategy and XI-TTL 4 as control group which was applied by conventional teaching. There were 20 students of each group. The total sample was 40 students. The instrument of collecting the data was reading test. The procedure if collecting data was pre-test, treatment and post-test to both of groups. The treatment in experimental group was applied by using K-W-L (Know-Want-Learned) strategy, but in control group was applied by Conventional teaching. The mean score of pre-test in experimental group was 45,9 and the post-test was 76. The mean score of pre-test in control group was 29,4 and the post-test was 37,05. Based on the calculation of t-test,t-observed (3,80) was higher that t-table (1,686) for the value of t-table for degree of freedom (dt)=Nx+Ny-2=20+20-2=38 at the level significant α=0,05. It means that NISP strategy can be used as teaching approach alternative to enrich students writing at grade ten.en_US
