dc.description.abstractContextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a teaching method that has seven components that provides the students the good opportunity for speaking exercises. Speaking is one of the important skills that the students have to master. Most of the students still have a low speaking ability especially in fluency, accuracy and Comprehend ability due to in appropriaties in teaching technique used by the teacher. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to know whether the implementation of CTL improves student’s speaking achievement, to know whether the implementation of CTL improves students’ participation in teaching learning process, to know whether the implementation of CTL improves teacher’s performance.This is a classroom action research and the subject is the students of Senior High School at SMA YAPSI 1 MEDAN . The researcher uses experimental qualitative to analyze the data. The researcher collects the data by observing the speaking activities in English conversation club, conducting the interview, and documenting some important data that support to this research. The data are from interview script, field note, and work plan. The techniques of analyzing data are reduction the data, data analysis, presenting the data and drawing conclusion. The subject of this study is the members joined in the English conversation club at SMA YAPSI 1 MEDAN.en_US
