dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to find out the improvement of students’ ability in translating novel from English to Indonesian through Tripartite Cycle Model. The subject of this research was second years students of SMA NEGERI 8 MEDAN. There are two kinds of data collected during the study, quantitative and qualitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data is writing test while questionnaire sheet and observation sheets for qualitative data. Based on qualitative data, the students are active and enthusiastic to follow the teaching learning process. The quantitative data is found that students’ ability in translating narrative text from English to Indonesian by using Tripartite Cycle Model improved from the pre-test to post-test in cycle I and cycle II. It can be seen from the students’ mean score and percentage of students who got score ≥75. The mean of students’ score and percentage of students who got ≥ 75 for pre-test is 53.28 (15.62%) and for cycle I is 70 (25%) and for cycle II is 83.75 (87.5%). The conclusion is there is an improvement to increase their knowledge in translating narrative text from English to Indonesian by using Tripartite Cycle Model at Eleventh Grade of SMA NEGERI 8 MEDAN, especially can help teacher in teaching narrative text especially translate a novel that can make the students more interested, active, and enthusiastic to learn translation.en_US
