    The effect of using Cloze Procedure Technique on students’ vocabulary mastery at Ten Grade students of SMK N 5 Medan.

    Abstract
    This study focused on finding out the effect of applying Cloze Procedure Technique on Students’ vocabulary mastery. Cloze Procedure is a technique in which words are deleted from a reading passage. In this study, researcher used purposive Cloze that deleted content word, such as noun, preposition and verb. This study was conducted in Experimental Design. This study was conducted in experimental group. Based on the data analysis, the writer found that there is a significant differences between Cloze Procedure Technique for experimental group and conventional way for control group. The population of this research was the first year students in SMK N 5 Medan. There were forty students of the first year vocational high school students as the sample of this research. This study was conducted with two randomized group namely experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by applying Cloze Procedure Technique, while the control group was taught by applying conventional technique. The instrument of collecting the data multiple choice tests which consisted 50 items. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation shown that the t-observed (2.37) was higher that t-table was (1.671) at the level of significance (p = 0.05 with df = 38). It means that there was a significant effect of applying Cloze Procedure Technique on students’ vocabulary mastery. Finally the writer made the conclusion that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The finding show that there is Effect of Cloze Procedure Technique on students’ vocabulary mastery of ten grade students of SMK N 5 Medan. It is suggested that teachers should apply this technique as one the technique to improve students’ vocabulary mastery.
