dc.description.abstractThis thesis entitled Irony in the Book of John in the King James Holy Bible. The objective of this study areto find out the types of irony which one is the dominant in the book of John in the King James Holy Bible. This research used qualitative descriptive and quantitative methods inanalyze the data. The data werecollected fromthe book of John in the King James Holy Bible. the data of this study is derived from identify and clasify the types of irony in of the book of john in the King James Holy Bible that contains of irony. The result showed that there were 34 data. The findings indicated that the book of John in the King James Holy Bible applied three types of irony based on Arp and Johnson : Verbal Irony, Situasional Irony, and Dramatic Irony.the total calculations of irony in each type are 15 Verbal Irony, 13 Situasional Irony and 6 Dramatic Irony. The dominant type of irony in the book of John in the King James Holy Bible is Verbal Irony (15).en_US
