DANCE MOVEMNET THERAPY FOR IMPROVING EYE CONTACT ABILITY IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of Dance Movement Therapy to improve the ability of eye contact in children with autism. Dance movement therapy is the movement of children with communication between therapist, child follow the movements performed by the therapist. The research method used was a quasi experimental design wit the ABA useing 1 subject. Subjects in this study was a 7 -year-old autistic child who has been diagnosed with moderate midly autistic and have problem eye contact. Measuring tool used is the eye contact rating scale. Based on statistical calculations obtained p= 0.650, so p=0.650>p=0.05, we can conclude there is no difference between rater 1, rater 2 and rater 3. Based on these results given the subject response at baseline before therapy there is no eye contact, increasing the ability of eye contact started to occur when on the generalization and the baseline after the administration of therapy . The results showed in increase in the ability of eye contact in children after administration of which the dance movement therapy.
