dc.description.abstractThis study aims at analyzing thee types of Grice maxim produced by the Eighth Grade Students during teaching and learning process in SMP Negeri 1 Sitio-tio. It was designed as a qualitative research. The participants of this study were two classes of eighth Grade Students at SMP Negeri 1 Sitio-tio. The data were collected through observations i.e. recording as the main source. The data were analyzed using types of Grice maxim introduced by paul Grice (1975). Based on the results of the data analysis, the findings of this research can be stated as follow all types of Grice maxim were found in Students conversation; there were 30 sentences that can be categorized into four types of Grice maxim, namely: Maxim of Quality were 16 (53,33 %) Maxim of Quantity were 13 (43,33%) Maxim of Relation were 30 (100%) and Maxim of Manner were 1 (3,33%).en_US
