    Speaking Anxiety In the Teaching of English to Tenth Grade of SMK NEGERI 5 MEDAN

    Abstract
    This study aimed to find out the students’ in speaking and teacher ways to overcome students’ anxiety of tenth grade of SMK NEGERI 5 MEDAN. This study was conducted by integrative design which qualitative methods used by applying foreign language classroom anxiety scale (FLCAS) to find the presentation of level anxiety. The subject was X TOKR3 consisted of 30 students’. The qualitative descriptive design to explain teacher ways to overcome students’ anxiety. Based on the result of the data found that were 6 students’ (20%) felt high anxiety. Meanwhile, there were 11 students’ (37%) felt moderate anxiety and there were 13 students’ (43%) felt low anxiety. From the observation teachiing and learning process revealed teacher ways to overcome students’ anxiety by three ways they are : adressing to the whole class, addressing to unspesific individual, and nominating individual. These ways helped teacher in teaching and learning process to make students’ active in speaking English.
