dc.description.abstractThis research is focused to discuss about students’ error in using preposition in writing hortatory exposition text at SMA Swasta Imelda Medan. The sample of the study was the eleventh grade students of SMA Swasta Imelda Medan. This study used descriptive qualitative, a case study. The result of the study showed there are four types of error and the most dominant error in using preposition in writing hortatory exposition text namely: error of omission, error of addition, error of misformation and error of misordering. The result of the study found there are four types of error found in writing a hortatory exposition text, are Omission, Addition, Misformation, and Misordering. The researches found the errors from each student and they did errror when wrote their writing. The types of Omission errors are (34’2) errors. The types of Addition errors are (23,7) errors. The types of Misformation errors are (36,8) errors. And the last the types of Misordering errors are (5,3) errors. The most the types of dominant error that the students made in writing hortatory exposition text by using preposition, the types is misformation are 14 errors (36,8). Students made those difficulties because students do not know and understand to use the correct from of the morpheme or structure in preposition and the studen supplies something although it is incorrecten_US
