    Abstract
    Equivalence of Grammatical has five main categories: they are Person, Tense, Voice, Gender and Number. Grammatical equivalence in translating the two languages is very important to achieve closest meaning. The objective of the study is to achieve the error grammatical categories and dominant errors of grammatical equivalence made by the students in translating Batu Menangis text into English which includes Person, Tense, Voice, Gender and Gender. The data is collected by giving test for 20 respondents and the data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The participants of this study SMA N 1 Girsang Sipanganbolon. The result of the study showed that there are 508 errors which were made the students in translating Batu Menangis text into English that are classified into five categories. They are Person errors (138 or 27.17%), Tense errors (335 or 65.95%), Voice errors (33 or 6.49 %), Gender errors (0 or 0%) and Number errors (2 or 0.39%). From the five categories of grammatical equivalence, Tense errors have the highest number of errors.
