The Use Of Weblog Technique in improving Writing Skill for Junior High School in SMP Swasta Santo Thomas-5 Lawe Bekung
Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to find out whether weblog technique can improve students’ writing skill. This thesis was conducted by using Classroom Action Reseach. The subject of this research is eight grade of SMP Swasta Santo Thomas-5 Lawe Bekung. There are two kinds of data collected during the reasearch, quantitative data and qualitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data is writing test. Based on quantitative data it is found that the students’ writing skill by using weblog improved from pre-test to cycle I and cycle II. It can be seen from students’ mean of students’ score and percentage of students. The mean of students’ score and percentage for pre-test is 55.2 (15%) and for cycle I is 66.5 (35%) and for cycle II is 77.35 (75%). The students’ can improve their writing skill by use weblog. And the use of weblog to enhances the students critical thinking skill. The conclusion is there is a significant improvement on students writing recount text and increase their knowledge in writing after using weblogin class VIII-A SMP Swasta Santo Thomas-5 Lawe Bekung. Especially for English teacher, weblog can help teacher to make students to be more interested, active and enthusiastic when teaching English writing.
