ERROR ANALYSIS IN WRITING HORTATORY EXPOSITION TEXT AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE IN SMA NEGERI 1 PALIPI
Abstract
This research was analyzed the results of the students ' writing, in which they are invited to write Hortatory exposition texts because Hortatory exposition text is texts that state phenomena that have occurred. The researchers aimed to describe the types of errors made by the student in writing descriptive and procedure texts. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from students writing test and conducted interview to support the data on hortatory exposition text. The writing test is used to measure each student's level of learning in writing to find out the kinds of students' errors and an interview is utilized to learn about the circumstances that led to the students' errors. The participants were 20 students at the eleventh grade in SMA Negeri 1 Palipi. Data analysis namely discovered which form of error was more prevalent than the data that had been gathered, based on the students' experiences, as a result of the writing test made by the students, in hortatory exposition text , the researcher found 102 errors in the data shows that there are 16 errors of omission category with the percentage 16 % which 12 of the students made this error, 45 errors of addition category with the percentage 45 % which all of students made this error, 36 errors of misformation category with the percentage 34 % which made by 16 students and 5 errors of the misordering category with the percentage 5 % made 4 students. The most the types of dominant error that the students made in writing hortatory exposition text is addition (45 errors or 45%). Students made those error because the students added word that should not be in each sentences, do not know and understand to use the correct from of the morpheme or structure in composing sentences. The researcher conducts interviews with students to learn about the elements that contribute to students' faults in producing hortatory exposition text. Some factors that cause student writing errors include: vocabulary errors, grammatical structure, they also struggle to translate English due to a lack of vocabulary in English, they are also lazy when it comes to looking up terminology and students thought not easy to learn English language.
