THE EFFECT OF USING CAKE APPLICATION ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY AT SECOND GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL HKBP SIDORAME MEDAN
Abstract
This thesis is about The Effect of Using Cake Application on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Second Grade Students of Junior High School HKBP Sidorame. The objective of the study is to find out if the use of Cake Application has a significant affect on students’ vocabulary mastery. The research design for this study was experimental quantitative that was completed at the second grade of Junior High School HKBP Sidorame, Medan, North Sumatera. The population of the study is the second grade students of Junior High School HKBP Sidorame Medan with the total number of students
105 and 40 students of them are taken as the sample. The sample is divided into two groups namely experimental and control group with two different techniques. The experimental group taught using the cake application and taught about vocabulary tests and the control group without cake application. The experimental group consisted of 20 students and the control group consisted of 20 students. The data of this study were taken from vocabulary test in form of 10 gap filling and 15 matching definition. The test was given in pre-test and post-test for both experimental group and control group. The results of this study showed that the mean score of experimental groups in pre-test was 42,8 and post-test was 72. Meanwhile the mean score of control group in pre-test was 42,65 and post-test was 6,8. The result of testing hypothesis showed that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected because tcount > ttable = 4.41 > 1,686 (10%). It means that Cake Application can be used in students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade of Junior High School HKBP Sidorame Medan
