| dc.description.abstract | This thesis is about an error analysis of English to Indonesian translation text in Folkative’s Instagram caption by using Google Translate and human Translation. The study aimed to find out the translation errors applied by Google Translate, and human translator and the dominant translation error applied by Google Translate, and human translator. The data are from the result of the translation of the Instagram Folkative’s caption which is translated by Google Translate, and a human translator (Professional translator). The writer analyzed 12 parameters of errors based on Mossop’s theory (2014). This research found that there were 6 of 12 parameters of error which is done by Google translate. They are errors in accuracy (8 data 40%), completeness error (1 data 5%), logical error (3 data 15%), smoothness error (3 data
15%), idiomatic error (1 data 5%), and mechanic error (1 data 5%). The professional translator also made some errors (one of twelve), it is an error in accuracy (3 data, 15%) only. The dominant error made by Google Translate is an error in accuracy (40%) and human translator is an error in accuracy (15%). This research recommended that machine translation like Google Translate is not good without the help of a professional translator in translating caption text. | en_US |
