    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the methods and ideology used in translating vocative dialogue in the novel "The Amber Spyglass" by Philip Pullman. This study used qualitative descriptive. The data from this study are fifty vocative dialogues from the novel "The Amber Spyglass" by Philip Pullman and translated into "Teropong Cahaya" by Sendra tanuwidjaja. There are eight translation methods, namely word-for-word translation, literal translation, faithful translation, semantic translation, adaptation, free translation, idiomatic transation, and communicative translation (Newmark, 1988) and there are two translation ideologies, namely Foreignization ideology and Domestication ideology (Venuti, 2012). The writer found that there are seven types of translation methods used by translators in translating fifty vocative dialogues, namely word-for-word translation, literal translation, faithful translation, semantic translation, free translation, idiomatic translation, and communicative translation. From the translation method, the writer concludes that the ideology of translation is Foreignization ideology and domestication ideology. Translators mostly adopt the ideology of domestication in translating vocative dialogue into Indonesian.
