    Improving Students’ Writing Narrative Text By Using Jot Thought Technique In Virtual Class For SMPN 1 Tanah Pinem

    Abstract
    This research aims at finding out the improvement of the students’writing narrative text by using jot thought technique. The subject of this research is eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Tanah Pinem. It consists of 20 students as informants from class VIII A. This research uses a classroom action research. Two kinds of data are collected: quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data is gathered by using a writing test. And qualitative data is collected by using Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. The quantitative data is analyzed by using voice note, while the qualitative data is analyzed by using :planning, action, observation, questionnaire, and reflection. The results in this study indicate that there is improvement of the students skill in writing narrative text expecially folk tale (Cinderella story). Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of the cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion - Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) of English lesson was 80 (Eighty). In the pre-test, there were 58,07 majority students’ scores and only 4 students who passed the KKM. In the post-test I, there were 72,475 the students got scores and just 9 students passed the KKM. In the post-test II, gained 81,86 improvement and still 4 students the value below KKM. The class condition during the virtual class was quite good. In addition, there was a positive response from the English teacher and the students about the implementing the action. In conclusion, jot thought technique can improve the students writing narrative text in virtual class.
