THE ANALYSIS OF IDIOMATIC EXPRESSION IN MOVIE SCRIPT ONWARD

Abstract

This thesis is about The Analysis of Idiomatic expression in Movie Script Onward. The objective of the study was to find out the types of idiomatic expressions and types of idiomatic expressions that the most dominant used in Onward Movie. This study was conducted by applying Descriptive Qualitative research. The subject of this study movie script Onward . The writer took 12 idiomatic expressions in Onward movie to get the data. The instrument of collecting data was Observation. The data were obtained on Onward Movie. The result showed that types of idiomatic expressions used in movie script onward are similes (8,34%), binomials (8,34%), proverbs (25%), euphemisms (16,67%), cliché(25%) and fixed statement (16,67%) So, types of idiomatic expressions that the most dominant used in Onward Movie is Proverbs and Cliché. It means that many people especially young people know the types of idiomatic expression Proverbs and Cliché, because it is easier to remember, simple and very fast to type if someone want to convey something. This thesis is not only for writers and other researchers but also has benefits for the nation and state. The benefit is to provide basic knowledge about idiomatic expressions which is directly used in Onward Movie. And also has benefits for teachers and students, namely making it easier to learn or explain about Idiomatic Expressions in onward movie.
