    Abstract
    This thesis entitled an analysis of negative politeness strategies found in utterances and commentary in Atta Halilintar homeless prank. The rise of prank content being carried out on YouTube today makes researchers interested in researching this title. This research aims to analyse the types of negative politeness strategies and the dominant types of negative politeness strategy found in homeless prank in youtube Atta Halilintar. The researcher employed Brown and Levinson’s theory (1987) to clasify the use of negative politeness strategies that were used by the speaker. This study uses a descriptive qualitative analysis method in analyzing the data. The data were obtained from utterances and commentary in Atta Halilintar homeless prank. The amount of data from this research is 100 data. The result is as follow. There are (22%) be conventionally indirect strategy, (13%) question hedge strategy, (27%) be pessimistic strategy, (23%) minimize the imposition strategy, (5%) gicve deference strategy, (7%)apologize strategy, (2%) nominalize strategy and (1%) personalize strategy. The most dominant type of negative politeness strategy in the data is be pessimistic strategy.
