ILLOCUTIONARY ACTS FOUND IN SARCASTIC UTTERANCES ON YOUTUBE’S GOT TALENT VIDEO
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the illocutionary acts found in the sarcastic utterances. This study applied qualitative methods and the data were analyzed descriptively. The data are classified based on the illocutionary speech act theory by Searle (1976) . According to Searle's theory, there are five types of speech acts, namely: Declarative, Representative, Expressive, Directive, and Commissive and Declaration. The results of this study indicate that there are five speech acts performed: (46,4%) representative speech acts, (16,9%) expressive speech acts, (23,9%) directive speech acts, (9,8%) commissive speech acts and (2,8%) declarative speech acts of the total 71 illocutionary acts, representatives are the most frequent types of illocutionary act because the contestant informs about their channel expressed their utterances in represent such as by informing, affirming, stating, concluding, predicting, claiming and retelling. The results study was conducted to provide readers with a deep understanding of the speech acts in sarcastic utterances found in the got talent's video youtube script of skinnyindonesian24 channel.
