THE QUALITY OF STUDENT’S TRANSLATION ASSISTED BY THE USE OF ELECTRONIC DICTIONARY
Abstract
The thesis is to investigate the student’s translation quality assisted by the use of electronic dictionary in translating hortatory exposition text English to Indonesian at at senior high school Gajah Mada Medan class X1 11 Ips. Under qualitative method, this study significantly gives explanations of the quality of the student’s translation. Additionally, researcher used three documents that had validated an R1= Rater 1 as Lecture at Nommensen HKBP University, R2 = Rater 2 as teacher at SMA Gajah Mada, R3 = Rater 3 as student at Nommensen HKBP University as the instrument to collect the data. Hortatory exposition text as translation guide in collecting and analyzing the data, the researcher acts as the key instrument-human instrument, reading the content, coding the data, calculating the average score, and drawing the conclusion. As the result, based on Nababan’s theory readability aspects of parameters translation quality the students translation quality assisted by used of electronic dictionary in translating text English into Indonesian at SMA Swasta Gajah Mada Medan from the Aspect readability the R1 give an average score 2,4, R2 give an average score 2,4 and then R3 give an average score 2,3 it means the is Generally, translation text can be understood by the reader, however a certain text must be read more than once to get the meaning. The translation category data the quality of the student’s translation is medium level of readability.
