The Analysis of Students’ Problem in Translating English Descriptive Text into Indonesian at the Eighth Grade of SMP RK Bintang Samosir Palipi in the Academic Year of 2020/2021
Abstract
The objective of the research is to describe the problem faced and to find out dominant problem faced at the eighth grade students of SMP RK Bintang Samosir Palipi in the academic year of 2020/2021. This research is a qualitative research and used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher obtained the data from the students’ translation test. The researcher carried out at SMP RK Bintang Samosir on September 2020. To collect the data, the researcher needed some steps, they are took one of three descriptive text from the textbook, the research choose one descriptive text, teaching simple descriptive text and give the translation test. Then, to analyze the data, the researcher collects data by theory of translation problem, the researcher analyze students’ problem in translating English descriptive text into Indonesian, and the researcher making conclusion. The result of the analysis shows that the highest number of students’ problem is not transmitted (71,73%). The second is Grammar (17,39%). The third is incomplete sentence (10,86%). The most dominant problem faced done by the eighth grade students of SMP RK Bintang Samosir in the academic year of
2020/2021 is not transmitted.
