THE EFFECT OF ACROSTIC TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS ABILITY IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT TENTH GRADE OF SMK SWASTA TAMAN PENDIDIDIKAN PERDAGANGAN
Abstract
This study focused on finding out the effect of Acrostic Technique on Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at tenth grade of SMK Swasta Taman Pendidikan. This study was conducted in experimental quantitative design. The population of this research was tenth grade of students in SMK Swasta Taman Pendidikan Perdagangan. There were 30 students of the tenth grade senior high school students as the sample of research. This study was conducted with two randomized groups namely experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Acrostic Technique, while control group was taught without Acrostic Technique. The instrument of collecting the data was a writing test that was to write a descriptive paragraph writing based on the topic given. The data were analyzed by using t-test. The calculation shown that t-observed (4,365) was higher than t-table (1,7011) at the level significance (α) 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 28. It means that there was a significant effect of Acrostic Technique towards students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
