IMPROVING THE STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL IN RECOUNT TEXT THROUGH GENRE-BASED APPROACH AT THE TENTH GRADE IN SMK SWASTA KESEHATAN IMELDA MEDAN
Abstract
This study was an attempt to discover the improvement students’ skill in writing Recount text through Genre Based Approach, this study was conducted by using classroom action research.The objective of the study is to find out whether of using Genre Based Approach improves on students’ skill in writing recount text. The population of this study was used the students of SMK SWASTA KESEHATAN IMELDA MEDAN. The subject of this research was taken the students in a class consisted of 30 students. The research consisted of two cycles. Each cycles consisted of two and one meetings the instrument for collecting data were quantitative data (writing test) and qualitative data (observation sheet, interview sheet, and diary notes). The object of this research was to improve students’ writing skill through the use of Genre-Based Approach. Based on writing test score, students’ score kept improving every test. In pre-test the mean score was 52,5. In cycle I the mean of writing score was 70,86 and in cycle II the mean of writing score was 75,53. Based on observation sheet, interview sheet, and diary notes, it was found that teaching learning process well. Students were active, enthusiasm, and interested in writng. The result of the research showed that Genre Based Approach can improve students’ skill in writing Recount Text.
