The Effect of Using Direct Activities Related to Text (Dart) Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension For Junior High School at Eighth Grade Student at Neighbors
Abstract
The study is generally attempted to find the effect of Direct Activity Related to Text (DART) in Reading Comprehension at eighth grade student at neighbors. The data was collected from the result of reading test. To know whether this media effective or not, the writer used pre-experimental study applied in eighth grade student. The study had been done in 4 meetings that were designed, first meeting was for pre-test, two meetings was for treatment and last meeting was for post-test. As the experimental quantitative research, the writer analyzed the data by using t-test. The result showed that there was significant value in pre-test and post-test after taught with Direct Activity Related to Text in reading comprehension on desriptive text. The student’s mean of pre-test score in Experimental was 43.5 and the student’s mean of post-test in Experimental was 79.5 while the student’s mean s of pre-test in control was 32.5 and the student’s mean of post-test in control was 46.5. In other words Direct Activity Related to Text (DART) in Reading Comprehension is effective in teaching reading comprehension for eighth grade students in Marindal.
